this is not intended as a "vs" or flame post.
i am totally unfamiliar with both softwares.
this post is purely money oriented.
times are tough right now. so my question is
what are the advantages/comparisons between the two apps.
i run mac/leopard and would be lipsyncing an animated
virtual 3d rock band. so interpreting english singing would be
my goal.
at twice the price, i would presume magpie is better,
and i would gladly pay the higher price, i just
want to know what makes it better or different or easier
or more applicable to my needs.
any input would be appreciated. |

I know nothing about Mimic, all I can say is that while Magpie Pro provides a couple of options for automatic speech recognition the strength is on the tools for doing manual lipsync (or to improve the automatic results).
Automatic lipsync of songs is very difficult because the background music complicates the task of recognizing phonemes. I recommend that you do a manual lipsync. For a 3 minute song you should expect to spend 30-45 minutes for a full manual lipsync, maybe a bit more if you are coming up to speed with the software while you do it.
Good luck.
